I enjoy the Kettle Brand Limited Edition flavors and was excited to see Chili Crisp. Having recently deeply enjoyed the Chamoy! Limited Edition flavor; I had high and perhaps, unrealistic expectations.

The chip started off with a sweetness that progressed into a spicy, tingly finish. A couple chips in, a tolerable spiciness lingered. And consistent with the Kettle Brand, the chip itself had great crunch and potato flavor.
So the chip was average. I had hope for a flavor profile with more depth. Further investigation of the ingredient list - this is basically a habanero chip dressed up as chili crisp.

In fairness, “red chili peppers” and “dried red pepper sauce” are also ingredients. There are many types of red chili peppers, some more unique then others. It is uncertain what other red chilies might might have present but I did not taste anything distinct, such as the sublime Sichuan red chili pepper. There were also no ingredients to honor the fermented soybeans that are commonly found in chili crisp. Kettle Brand also chose the addition of garlic versus chili crisp generally has onion.
Sadly, this was a one note flavor. Only spice; no savory, no umami.
Glad I tried it: Yes
Would I buy it again: No and let's be honest, nothing beats the real thing or making your own
