I always enjoy perusing for new (or new to me) RANA products. And lo and behold, I found the Cheese Lovers Tortelloni. Next thought - so…it’s a cheese tortelloni, did they do anything unique with it? In my opinion, yes. I’ve never had a tortelloni filled with raclette cheese before. Fancy. Into the shopping cart it went.
Now in the moment, I couldn’t have told you anything about raclette cheese. Other than, a whisper in the back of my mind coming from the conglomeration of YouTube food videos I have watched that communicated “it’s delicious, buy it”. Whatever you say inner voice. A little googling later. Raclette cheese is a Swiss cheese, known to be melty goodness. Poured directly onto meats and veggies. No flour or milk needed here. It’s a cheese sauce all on it's own. Damn good idea RANA. This cheese should be stuffed into any form of pasta pocket you like.

Eating the tortelloni plain, you get a wonderfully, smooth, creamy, salty and slightly nutty and sweet filling. Raclette cheese for the win! I don’t know if I could taste the others cheeses and I didn’t care (for the record, they’re parmesan, asiago, provolone, fontina, and ricotta). And RANA clearly knows it’s pasta. The pasta was tender and there was a good pasta and filling balance.

And while yummy as it was. I wanted some sauce and for the raclette to keep on shining so I went with a simple tomato sauce. Honestly, it was leftovers from my freezer. I don’t remember if it was a garlic or onion base - I had been experimenting with caramelizing at the time. A recipe for another time. Anyways, yes tomato sauce! The umami of the tomato absolutely elevated and became one with the sweet nuttiness of the raclette.
Glad I tried it: Yes
Would I buy it again: This is my new cheese tortelloni standard
